Military Training Directive

Overview

The curriculum is broken down into several elements including a non-mandatory, but highly recommended academic portion to lay the foundation for faster learning and a deeper foundation of knowledge. The academic elements are offered through self paced Flash courses that individuals can take at their own leisure. Badges are awarded in each profile to denote successful completion of each course. Promotion should take into account those who complete academic elements within a timely manner or ahead of new tiers of training. Each tier of training has academic and practical elements. With a strong foundation and background established by the academic elements, the practical application of this knowledge will result in a physical execution of required actions culminating as military drills. Emulation of physical action is the desired end result of the training program. All requirements must be listed as actions that are able to be measured, observed and evaluated to ascertain a person’s successful emulation of the required material. The action itself is graded as pass/fail being placed within a difficulty tier such as basic, advanced or specialty. All soldiers are required to pass 100% of the basic requirements while higher ranks must achieve higher tiers. Once an individual demonstrates a successful passing grade in a basic requirement, they will not be evaluated on that task as part of any timed standard. Should an individual demonstrate a lack of proficiency that hinders their ability to function within the military structure, they may be retrained and evaluated again to ensure successful training. Training is meant to instill a standardized level of understanding and ability to perform an action within the command and control of the military structure. The Republic does not drill simply to drill or waste time. Minimal training to meet a standard is the goal. The end result is predictability of the resulting action should a command be issued. A commander giving an order must be able to rely on a 100% success rate that it is given out or else the unit risks creating its own Friction and Fog of War. Tiers

Basic Requirements

The Basic Requirements tier covers theory and application of the core fundamentals of a basic unit and its function within the military structure of the Republic to include ranks, positions, command and control, as well as all associated drill maneuvers. An individual who is certified in Basic Requirements must be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the elements of a formation as well as its role within the military structure. They must also be able to function within a Squadron as well as its sub-units without hindering that unit’s ability to operate on the field of battle.

Advanced Requirements

Advanced Requirements are meant to enhance a unit’s ability to achieve a commander’s desired effects and contribute to a higher state of capability in the overall military of the Republic. All soldiers should be exposed to advanced requirements whenever possible; however, basic infantry or militia is not required to become certified through evaluation. An individual who is certified in Advanced Requirements must be able to demonstrate the ability to carry out complex formations without degrading a unit’s reaction time or geometric strengths resulting in a clearly exploitable weakness. Individuals should begin to demonstrate a basic grasp of unit command at this level.

Specialty Requirements

This tier is specific to each category of desired effects and capabilities. Some examples include Advanced Combat Units (elite cavalry, infantry, archery and magery), Naval Command, Rangers (scouting, recon and spec ops), Intel/Combat Information Controllers (Battlespace and Intel Preparation, Command Staff), Sergeant Leadership School, Officer Leadership School, etc. Individuals certified in a Special Requirement Tier will generally be following a specific career path engaging in more professional and rigorous training sessions. Each Subject Matter Expert will develop their own list of requirements as the categories are too numerous to cover. The desired attributes of an individual certified in a Special Requirement are being able to demonstrate the expected effects without error or outside assistance, teach others the material at a basic level and continue to maintain proficiency in Basic and Advanced Requirements.
